Our society shows a growing sensitivity to Wildlife conservation and environmental issues. More than emotional and political responses evoked by this theme, the development of management plans and public debate must be based on scientific studies and related to topics concerning species and environmental conservation.

Since 1993, PROFAUNA Organisation, a non-profit organization, promotes research activities for conservation, with the goal of constituting itself as a link between scientists, institutions dedicated to ecological research and the official organisms in charge of environmental and Wildlife management. PROFAUNA Organisation is interested in species of the Neo tropical fauna, to the South of the Tropic of Capricorn. The Non Tropical South America mostly forgotten by the conservation agencies in the industrialized countries.

PROFAUNA organisation supports the research of the Group of Estudies in Ecology of Mammals GEMA.
